Hampton Public Schools
Kimley-Horn provided infrastructure planning and site design services to Hampton Public Schools for the construction of two new pre-kindergarten through 8th grade middle/elementary schools.
Services included surveying, infrastructure master planning, site plan development, traffic analysis, and bidding and construction phase services. In addition to the site design, Kimley-Horn also assisted with the LEED document preparation in the Sustainable Sites Category. The approximately 200,000-square-foot, two-story schools were the first to be LEED-certified in Hampton, VA.
In addition, Kimley-Horn worked with Hampton City Schools (HCS) to develop a temporary school bus operations center. After performing due diligence on several potential locations for a permanent facility, Kimley-Horn helped HCS identify a site to serve the school division’s for the next five years. Kimley-Horn developed a striping plan for 145 bus spaces with parking for 115 passenger vehicles. Kimley-Horn also coordinated the design for two modular office buildings to be included on the site.
