Using Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision for Field Data Validation and To Improve Reliability in Congested Urban Corridors

March 21, 2022 | 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM EST

With rapid advancement in technology, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and deep neural network learning has become much more simplified. This research provides some examples and case studies of applying AI in computer vision and using open-source software tools for three use cases of a low-cost alternative methodology to collect, process, analyze, and evaluate traffic data as well as to improve reliability and safety in a congested urban corridor:

  1. Traffic Counts from CCTV
  2. O-D data from video footage
  3. Collisions risk analysis from CCTV

This session will explore the research, its findings and best practices for applying this technology.
