The Kimley-Horn Foundation – Hope Through Housing
Since 2006, Mark Bishop (Kimley-Horn Twin Cities) has volunteered with Clare Housing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, providing meals, home repair, and friendship to the residents living with HIV/AIDS.
Inspired by his time spent at a similar organization in Northern Virginia, Mark sought out Clare Housing for opportunities to support its residents. He began cooking dinner a few times per month, helping with yard work, and spending time with the people who lived there. He eventually brought his family along and forged strong bonds with the residents.
Then, more Kimley-Horn coworkers got involved in an unexpected way: “Every time I made dinner, I’d bring a Crock-Pot into the office to cook the food during the day. The smell of food around the office intrigued my team.” After discovering the purpose behind the Crock-Pot, employees asked to join Mark. From yard work and visitations to dinners and beyond, the Twin Cities office has developed a lasting relationship with Clare Housing.
Through the office’s steady involvement, the Kimley-Horn Foundation has provided grant assistance to Clare Housing to buy supplies, maintain the houses, and supply resources for staff to repair and replace household items.
