The International Parking & Mobility Institute’s June 2023 Parking & Mobility magazine features three Kimley-Horn parking and mobility experts and presented Kimley-Horn with an Award of Excellence in Mixed-Use Parking & Mobility Facility Design.

Award of Excellence

Kimley-Horn received an Award of Excellence in Mixed-Use Parking & Mobility Facility Design for the Oklahoma City Convention Center Parking Garage. The 413,360 square-foot, six-level garage opened in 2021 and has also received awards from Engineering News-Record, the American Institute of Architects, and the Associated General Contractors of Oklahoma. One judge said,

Parking Accessibility

Ben Henderson, PE, SE, co-authored “Making Parking More Accessible: Planning, Curb Management, Design, and Operations.” The story features an interview from Kimley-Horn’s Robert Ferrin, CAPP, and Gerald (Jerry) Schwientek, PE, where they revealed multiple ways municipalities can develop accessible parking, including utilizing the Proposed Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines, establishing ADA-compliant curbside parking spaces, and creating access to EV charging.

Ask the Experts

Ben was also featured in “Ask the Experts,” where he discussed electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the future of autonomous vehicles, and vertical take-off and landing vehicles.
