Expert landscape architect Jonathan Haigh, PLA, ASLA, and marketing professional Megan Curivan wrote about the re-imagination of The Square (Rosemary Square) Streetscape with Landscape Architect and Specifier News Magazine.

Located in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida, CityPlace first opened in 2000 as a space to eat, shop, and enjoy entertainment with friends and family. To redesign the area for better customer experiences and update aesthetics and mobility, the CityPlace leadership brought together a multidisciplinary team to create the new Rosemary Square Streetscape—now commonly referred to as “The Square.”

Kimley-Horn collaborated with multiple design companies to provide landscape, hardscape, irrigation, civil engineering, and utility design services for The Square’s transformation into a more flexible community space. The team strategized innovative ways to create functional and aesthetic pavers and worked through complex utility designs to bring the plaza fountain to life. The Square now includes adaptable curbless spaces, a new tropical aesthetic, and interactive features to bring people together and recently won the 2023 American Society of Landscape Architects Florida Award of Merit in the Urban Design Category.
