Arizona Veterans Memorial

Part of the Veterans Oasis Park in Chandler, Arizona, the 2.5-acre Field of Honor Veterans Memorial provides an opportunity for visitors to remember US veterans who have served and sacrificed for our communities. Landscape Architect and Specifier News highlighted the memorial in their magazine issue on lighting, spotlighting the creative and colorful illumination in the design.

With the goal of honoring veterans and their loved ones, Kimley-Horn partnered with the City of Chandler to design the memorial, providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, and electrical engineering services for the project. Our experts worked with veterans’ groups to inform design elements, focusing on representing themes of freedom, recognition, reflection, sacrifice, memories, and family in the space.

The final memorial features a field of illuminated cubes geometrically representing the American flag and offering a tribute to fallen soldiers. Other site elements include a star-spangled observation deck, a relocated jet sculpture, and a wall with narrative placards highlighting Chandler’s military connections. A symbolic space with transformative lighting, the Field of Honor Veterans Memorial spotlights the lives and values of our military personnel and connects them to the surrounding community.
