Parking & Mobility magazine’s October 2023 issue highlighted Kimley-Horn’s work on Allina Health’s Abbott Northwestern Hospital (ANWH) Purple Ramp. ANWH’s Purple Ramp expansion is part of Allina Health’s 10-year Facility Master Plan supporting the hospital campus’s anticipated growth.

“Kimley-Horn was a new design partner selected by Allina Health to lead the design of one of our largest parking structures, the Purple Ramp at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Campus. Kimley-Horn was selected based on their experience, technical abilities, team approach, city entitlement experience, and financial stewardship. They did not disappoint.”

The Kimley-Horn team for this project included project engineer Karl Gaebler, P.E., SE, P.Eng.; project manager Ben Henderson, P.E., SE; and traffic and mobility engineer, Peter Lemmon, P.E., PTOE. The team provided the following services for the ANWH Purple Ramp project:

The project was a vertical and horizontal expansion of the existing parking ramp with eight parking levels, 2,000 square feet of retail and office space, and storage for 200 bicycles. To adhere to Allina Health’s commitment to sustainability, a community solar garden, a community promenade, and 20 electric vehicle charging stalls, expandable to 200, were also part of the project.
