World Waterpark Association Awards Mark Hatchel the Al Turner Award of Excellence

Mark Hatchel, RLA, ASLA, of Kimley-Horn was awarded the Al Turner Memorial Commitment to Excellence Award in recognition of his dedication to excellence in leadership and community by the World Waterpark Association.

Since bringing his passion for waterparks and expertise in site development and landscape architecture to Kimley-Horn in 1999, Mark has designed over 100 aquatics planning and design projects. He is the only person in his profession to have served as Head of Design for both Wet n’ Wild and Schlitterbahn Waterparks—two of the most popular waterpark chains in the world. Over the past 15 years, Mark has led the firm’s aquatic planning and design practice and during that time has completed more than 50 aquatic planning and design projects throughout the United States. He is a nationally recognized expert in the field of family aquatic center and water park design.
