Kimley-Horn partnered with the City of Farmers Branch to develop the framework for the City’s ADA Transition Plan.

The Kimley-Horn team worked with City staff to document up-to-date City efforts related to Title II compliance, developing an inventory of City programs, services, activities, and facilities for evaluation in future phases.

The facility inventories, developed in GIS, included:

  • Buildings and associated parking lots, including an on-site sidewalk
  • Parks and associated parking lots, including an on-site sidewalk
  • Unpaved park trails
  • Park pedestrian bridges
  • Signalized intersections
  • Sidewalk corridors with associated pedestrian street crossings, driveway crossings, railroad crossings and associated curb ramps

The resulting documentation provided the City with the information needed to plan and budget for the evaluation of the identified programs, services, activities, and facilities, as well as associated updates to the Transition Plan. To provide a smooth transition, Kimley-Horn also worked with the City to define the roles and responsibilities of the ADA Coordinator, develop an ADA notice, and create a grievance policy, procedure, and complaint form.
