Children’s Medical Center
Kimley-Horn provided land development, transportation planning, and roadway design services for the development of the Children’s Medical Center in Plano, Texas.
This project consists of the design of a community hospital for 60 pediatric general case beds, 12 pediatric ICU beds, appropriate ancillary and support space, a medical office building, and parking and site work to accommodate these uses.
Kimley-Horn began working with Children’s Medical Center Dallas in helping them select a specific project site, and provided the boundary survey for the real estate transaction of the land. Our relationship with Children’s Medical Center Dallas was so strong that Kimley-Horn was direct selected as the civil engineer of choice for the Plano project.
The Kimley-Horn team provided site planning assistance, survey, and floodplain studies of White Rock Creek, traffic impact analysis, road and bridge design, off-site utility improvements, roadway improvements, and site civil engineering. The project included the design of a bridge that spans White Rock Creek, as well as the protection of a large oak tree known as the “healing garden.” There are plans to construct an on-site lined pond and water well to provide non-potable water for irrigation.
Kimley-Horn continues to serve Children’s Medical Center as a preferred engineering consultant for miscellaneous assignments, including evaluating the facility’s exposure to potential flood plain modifications due to Trinity River levee concerns.
