Innovative City of Burleson Project Seeks to Expand ADA Accessibility with Robotics

The City of Burleson, Texas, is leading the way in accessibility by launching a cutting-edge project that uses advanced robotics to enhance inclusivity for residents. By partnering with Kimley-Horn to deploy state-of-the-art robotic technology, the City is demonstrating its commitment to setting a new standard for compliance to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and creating accessible community solutions.
Paving the Way for Greater ADA Accessibility in Burleson’s Public Spaces
Since January 2026, Kimley-Horn has been conducting an ADA assessment of the City’s public right-of-way sidewalks. Our approach leverages a blend of trained assessment technicians and the advanced Daxbot robotic assessment device. This innovative pairing of human skills and technology will help support a thorough and accurate evaluation of more than 200 miles of sidewalks. The Daxbot’s ability to move at walking speed allows for precise measurements—such as slope, width, and vertical changes—while minimizing disruption and prioritizing human safety.
The results of the ADA self-assessment will provide a detailed inventory of accessibility concerns to address, guiding future improvements to support all Burleson residents.
