 
														For four years, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) has spotlighted members who are industry leaders under 35 years of age. The ITE Class of 2025 Young Leaders to Follow program includes two engineers at Kimley-Horn known for their technical skills, community engagement, industry organization involvement, and mentorship: Lucy Cunningham and Anabel Hernandez.
The 2025 ITE Texas District Rising Star, Lucy is a traffic engineer and project manager with a variety of experience developing and coordinating signal timing for Dallas-Fort Worth metro agencies and designing traffic signals for the Austin Traffic Management Center. She is also heavily involved in educating up-and-coming industry leaders through ITE presentations, Synchro and traffic signal operations workshops, and technical training programs at Kimley-Horn.
 
														Lucy has leveraged her technology and data analysis skills to support clients, helping them use tools like Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures to better understand available data and apply findings to their day-to-day operations. A highlight of Lucy’s career so far has been her work in Abilene, Texas, where she helped reduce corridor delays by nearly 50% and save more than $750,000 in driver delay costs. With a background in traffic safety, transportation planning, and traffic operations throughout Nevada, Anabel is known for her ability to thoughtfully engage communities on impactful transportation initiatives. She has been a consultant on a variety of projects for the Nevada Department of Transportation, including their Strategic Highway Safety Plan and their Tribal Best Practices program.

She currently serves as the ITE Nevada Section President and has held a variety of past leadership positions, including ITE Mountain District Student and Younger Member Coordinator, ITE Nevada Section Vice President, and officer in the American Society of Civil Engineers Southern Nevada Younger Member Forum.
