Grand Prairie Signal System Timing / Communications Update
Kimley-Horn is currently working with the City of Grand Prairie, Texas to migrate their existing fiber optic Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) communication system to an Ethernet communication system.
This communication system will support the City’s Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS), providing communication to analog and digital CCTV cameras, advanced transportation controllers, video detection, and dynamic message signs. Kimley-Horn developed a migration plan identifying a recommended network architecture, identified field hardware replacement, and designed fiber optic field splicing and terminations in order to provide full redundancy in the network.
Fiber design included identification of additional field splices, upgrades to fiber distribution housings, new fiber terminations, and developed plans for new fiber communication routes. We also designed the fiber optic connection to the City’s Emergency Operations Center, Police Service Building, and City Hall.
