Kimley-Horn’s Program Management Helps Texas Successfully Coordinate Necessary Water Supply Expansion Project
Kimley-Horn is working with the cities of San Antonio and Austin, Texas to design and implement a long-term expansion to the water supply as population grows.
Settled in between San Antonio and Austin, the Interstate 35 corridor is projected to grow 34 percent in population by 2030. To meet the needs of this growth, Kimley-Horn’s Water Utilities group is working with the Alliance Regional Water Authority to successfully manage and implement a large, long-term water supply solution. With completion planned for 2023, this project will deliver 22,000 acre-feet of treated drinking water per year—enough to serve several communities in the corridor through 2040.
Kimley-Horn is the Program Manager for Phase 1B which includes the design and construction of a new 22,000 acre-feet per year pump station, a 19.5 MGD treatment plant, a large well field, two miles of raw water lines, 95 miles of treated water pipelines, and an administration, operations, and maintenance facility.
