Kimley-Horn PFAS Experts Featured in Words On Water Podcast

Kimley-Horn’s Mark Miller, Tanya Miro, and Uma Vempati spoke with Water Environment Federation’s Words On Water podcast host Travis Loop to discuss the latest PFAS news and trends, including challenges for utility treatment and how to prepare for the future. They also shared their experience developing the largest PFAS contamination removal system in the United States in Stuart, Florida. Mark Miller, P.E.

Mark has more than 30 years of experience in water treatment systems design, hydraulic investigations and design, and structural engineering. He has been responsible for the preparation of studies, design reports, construction plans, technical specifications, and preparation of bid documents. His treatment plant experience includes hydraulic modeling and analysis of water and sewer piping systems, design of small industrial treatment systems, water pumping stations, and membrane treatment systems. Mark has managed sizable water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects, including field engineering, shop drawing review, construction management, and field start-up services.

Tanya Miro

Tanya Miro

Tanya has more than 24 years of Water/Wastewater experience as a Program Manager, managing water industry programs. Tanya has strong passion for water and industry causes which she applies both internally and externally to connect industry personnel with the right resources, funding and project avenues. Her program knowledge within the water sector has kept her involved in several SSO programs and large distribution projects across the country. Her strong organizational abilities combined with excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills allow her to effectively manage and coordinate special initiatives like the PFAS task force team at Kimley-Horn.

Uma Vempati, P.E., PMP, ENV SP

Uma Vempati, P.E., PMP, ENV SP

With extensive experience in civil and environmental engineering, Uma has specialized expertise in water supply systems, water and wastewater treatment systems, water distribution, and wastewater collection systems. Uma strategically develops designs and custom solutions to support sustainable and cost-effective facilities with his One Water vision in mind. Uma is actively involved and recognized in the industry. He is a graduate of WEF’s Water Leadership Institute (WLI) and a member in various WEF’s committees and has served on the Board of Directors and various committees of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) providing his volunteer contributions to the industry.
