White Paper: Advanced License Plate Recognition Data Analysis
Introduction
Two years ago, Kimley-Horn released a white paper that documented our pilot testing of License Plate Recognition (LPR) equipment for parking occupancy data collection. The paper discussed our specific pilot study, its associated challenges, and ultimately the approach we used to successfully collect specific parking occupancy data. In the time since this paper’s publication, we have learned much more about this process and identified new and creative ways to utilize the system. As such, we believe this is an opportune time to revisit this topic and publish an updated white paper that integrates new approaches and lessons learned.
