Kimley-Horn Volunteers Help Raise Money for Special Olympics
Kimley-Horn is participating in the holiday Festival of Trees event put on by Bloomington, Minnesota’s Mall of America and Twin Cities TV Station KARE 11. Apart from providing an indoor forest of distinctively decorated trees for visitors to stroll through, the free public event also benefits Special Olympics Minnesota and partners with local business Ky’s Kards.
A team from our Twin Cities office creatively decorated a tree with donated candy-cane decorations for the event—including tiny wrapped present ornaments with red Kimley-Horn ribbons. The decorated evergreen is on display in the Mall of America and visitors can donate to Special Olympics Minnesota directly or buy a $10 ticket for a chance to win the Kimley-Horn tree’s decorations in a future raffle.

Our Kimley-Horn team had a fabulous time decorating our tree and getting to know each other even better while serving for a fantastic organization in MN Special Olympics. We also got a sneak peek at the other trees at the Mall of America. Fun times!"

Special Olympics Minnesota is a non-profit organization that promotes the international Special Olympics vision to provide spaces for people with intellectual and physical disabilities to enjoy competition, teamwork, individual development, and sports engagement. Special Olympics Minnesota offers state-wide events and training programs that empower participants in sports ranging from basketball and golf to gymnastics and alpine skiing.
Special Olympics Minnesota participant Kyle is also the CEO of Ky’s Kards—a Twin Cities business that promotes inclusive employment—and his business is providing giveaway ornaments for those who donate at least $20 or purchase more than one ticket for the Festival of Trees event.

The Festival of Trees runs from November 16, 2022 to January 4, 2023 with some limited hours and closings around the winter holidays.
