This session will highlight recent advancements in airfield pavement design and evaluation, beginning with case studies on ICAO ACR/PCR methodology for aircraft–pavement compatibility. It will also cover risk-based design approaches that integrate traditional and advanced technologies to improve resilience and decision-making and conclude with updates to FAARFIELD and the use of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems to enhance survey efficiency and reduce operational impacts.
Innovating Airport System Planning: Tools, Technologies, and Strategies for the Future

This session explores how state aviation agencies and planners are leveraging advanced technologies, and data-driven tools to modernize airport system planning. Topics will include the integration of ADS-B and automated data collection; system rightsizing; deployment of interactive platforms for hangar and land lease rate analysis; and coordination with communities to integrate UAS operations. Attendees will also gain insight into land use guidance and initiatives that ensure long-term performance stability across the airport system.
