Unlocking the Power of Curb Data: Applications of the Curb Data Specification
Speaker
January 12, 2026 | 10:30 AM-12:15 PM ET
Cities are increasingly recognizing the curb as one of the most valuable—and most contested—pieces of public space. From rideshare pickups and delivery zones to micro-mobility parking and freight loading, demand at the curb is higher than ever. The Curb Data Specification (CDS) provides a common language for cities, technology providers, and operators to manage this complexity. This session will explore how cities are applying CDS to improve curb management and support broader mobility goals.
Communicating Pavement Management Needs to Stakeholders
Speaker
January 12, 2026 | 1:30 PM-3:15 PM ET
This session explores how to effectively communicate data-driven pavement management decisions to non-technical audiences such as elected officials, taxpayers, and community stakeholders. Beyond technical expertise, successful implementation requires translating complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives aligned with public priorities like safety, fiscal responsibility, and service quality. The session will highlight strategies for turning condition indices, performance models, and treatment recommendations into actionable information that builds support for sustainable infrastructure investment, while addressing funding challenges faced by agencies of all sizes.
Infrastructure Modifications to Improve the Operational Conditions of Automated Vehicles: NCHRP 20-102(24) research update
Speaker
January 12, 2026 | 1:30 PM-3:15 PM ET
Pavement markings are important for automated vehicles (AVs) because they are a primary, direct source of information about lane geometry, allowed movements, and road semantics. In short: markings help an AV understand where it should be, what it can do, and how other road users are likely to behave. Pavement markings are also a low-cost, high-value physical roadway infrastructure asset. On a typical roadway project, the marking costs are generally less than one percent of the project budget. While markings are proven to be beneficial for the legacy driver, there is an increasing understanding that they also significantly improve AV localization, decision-making, predictability, and safety.

Speaker
January 13, 2025 | 10:30 AM-12:15 PM ET
Aviation system planning is evolving beyond traditional inventories and performance measures toward action-oriented approaches that quantify and maximize economic value. This session showcases new methodologies—such as enhanced economic data visualization—to build stronger cases for public and private investment. Speakers will highlight cross-sector collaboration among DOTs, air service providers, and advocacy groups. By the end of this session, attendees will understand how to communicate the full economic value of aviation systems to policymakers, business leaders, and the public.
