We believe a meaningful career and a fulfilling family life go hand in hand—that’s why we’re proud to support our employees as they build both.
We are honored to have been named one of the 2025 Best Workplaces for Parents by Fortune and Great Place To Work®! To compile the 2025 list, survey responses from employees with parenting responsibilities who work for Great Place To Work Certified™ companies were analyzed to evaluate workplace experiences and data focused on parental leave, family-building resources, flexible schedules, and more. Our inclusion on the list underscores our dedication to supporting employees through every stage of parenthood.
We’re proud to offer resources that support employees—from family building to life as working parents and everything in between. Because we understand that parenthood takes many forms, and families are formed in many ways, we provide benefits to assist employees on their family-building journey, including adoption assistance, surrogacy assistance, and fertility support.

For expecting parents, we provide tools to help transition workloads and resources for guidance and support. Based on employee feedback, we recently tripled the length of our New Parent Leave for all eligible parents—whether they become parents through birth, adoption, surrogacy, or foster placement.
We also recognize that the transition back to work can be challenging. To ease this transition, we offer programs like Mom Buddies and Dad Buddies, pairing experienced parents with new or expecting parents for mentorship, resource sharing, and emotional support. Additionally, employees returning from extended parental leave are offered a two-week ramp-up period during which they can work 60% of their regular hours while receiving full pay. This allows them time and flexibility to gradually ease back into work while adjusting to the demands of parenthood.
Flexibility is another cornerstone of our approach to creating a culture of care, and we offer alternate or reduced schedules to help employees balance client needs with family life.
“The firm recognizes the importance of allowing working parents to develop schedules that meet both their family’s needs and the needs of their teams. My wife (Emily) and I are in a unique situation as two parents both working at Kimley-Horn.
The ability for Emily to work a reduced schedule, which has fluctuated anywhere between 60%-90% over the past two years, has been crucial to our family maintaining a sustainable schedule while growing our own practices and opening a new office in Escondido, California.
With our second child on the way, we’re looking forward to taking advantage of the New Parent Leave policies and spending additional time bonding with our son Luca and the new baby.”

Employee surveys consistently show strong appreciation for these tools, resources, and flexibility—affirming our commitment to creating a supportive environment for working parents.
“Kimley-Horn has made integrating work and home life seamless in my five years at the firm. Generous medical coverage, HSA contributions, new parent leave, flexibility, and more all combine to make working parent life a joy, not a burden.”
— Ben Perron
“The firm has really adapted to the growing need for flexibility among moms and parents. The flexibility guidelines are very helpful as a full-time working mom trying to keep work and personal life integrated. Kimley-Horn has provided great resources from the prenatal stage through maternity leave, as well as coaching resources after returning to work. Our firm truly strives to adapt and support working moms in ways that work for everyone.”
