The Galaxy Fixed Based Operator (FBO) and Hangar Facility received the 2021 Project of the Year award from Airport Business magazine. Kimley-Horn teamed up with PGAL to design the award-winning 24,220-square-foot FBO terminal and two 39,770-square-foot aircraft hangars with rentable space at the William P. Hobby International Airport (HOU).

The thoughtful design transforms a terminal into a luxurious, spacious area for customers while keeping efficiency at the forefront. Functionality was also a key consideration for the hangar, explained PGAL Principal, Ivan Pire, in an interview with Airport Business magazine, “We tried to maximize the site for rentable possibilities for storage of aircraft. We first created some robust site plans and mobile diagrams and coordinated with the developer and the airport to bring maximum value for the square footage of the site.”

In addition to designing the FBO and two hangars, Kimley-Horn also provided site development and design services for a landside parking lot, fueling facilities, associated roadways, and water utilities.
