ITS Architecture Maintenance Plan Builder
Welcome to the ITS Architecture Maintenance Plan Builder online tool. This tool develops tailored maintenance plans for regional ITS architectures and is specifically tailored to assist regions in California with developing these maintenance plans. An ITS Architecture Maintenance Plan defines how an architecture will be kept up-to-date through periodic updates, identifying when the updates will occur and who will take the lead in making the changes. An ITS Architecture Maintenance Plan is required by the Federal Rule 940/ Policy 655 to ensure that architectures are kept dynamic and are used by regions in planning for and deploying integrated ITS projects.
The contents of the Plan were developed based on research into key issues affecting California regions such as the intricate layering of ITS architectures and lack of resources facing many public agencies. Documentation sources also included the "Regional ITS Architecture Maintenance White Paper", examples of existing ITS Architecture Maintenance Plans developed for California regions and the combined experience of the technical team and key stakeholders.
Getting Started
To use this tool, you will answer 11 questions about your regional ITS architecture. You may access online help, where available, by clicking on the i symbol immediately adjacent to the question. The online help provides instruction on how to answer the questions and in some cases includes tips and recommendations regarding the overarching issues that should be addressed in developing an architecture maintenance plan. At any point you can click on the "Save & Exit" button to save your answers up to that point.
After answers to all questions have been provided, this online tool will automatically generate a tailored ITS Architecture Maintenance Plan document for your region. Your ITS Architecture Maintenance Plan will be developed instantly in both printable and editable formats and can then be used as is or modified as desired.
