WELCOME
The Columbia Pike Multimodal Street Improvements Project is being conducted by Arlington County for the purpose of completing a transportation analysis, environmental documentation, and preliminary design of streetscape and related road improvements for pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and vehicles along Arlington’s 3.5 mile Columbia Pike corridor.
- Design will be based on the vision for Columbia Pike developed by the County and upon recommendations of the Columbia Pike Transit Initiative and the Columbia Pike Street Space Planning Task Force.
- The goal of this improvements project is to provide a complete street that achieves an appropriate balance of travel modes and that supports future high-quality, high-frequency transit service.
- The project involves transportation planning, engineering, environmental documentation, and public involvement to complete 50% design plans.
- The project schedule includes time frames for public meetings, major milestones, and a project completion by December 2011.
- Implementation of the improvements will be dependent upon the completion of related projects, on-going redevelopment activities, and the recommendations of the Pike Transit Initiative project.
