VA Medical Center

Kimley-Horn provided assistance in the design of the VA Long Beach Healthcare System Medical Center in Long Beach, California.

Kimley-Horn provided assistance in the design of the VA Long Beach Healthcare System Medical Center in Long Beach, California.

The project included the demolition of several seismically unsafe buildings and design of several new facilities including the Blind Rehabilitation Center, the Outpatient Clinic, and the Educational Resource Center, Administrative offices, surface parking areas, and new infrastructure.

One of the key project issues of the Campus, a multidisciplinary site located on approximately 14 acres, was uniting the campus. This was achieved by weaving the campus together and providing a new identity which has completely re-energized the image of the campus. As a subconsultant to Lee Burkhart Liu Architects, Kimley-Horn’s responsibilities included site layout plans, grading, drainage, paving, hydrology, ADA access, and utilities (sewer, water, storm drain, electrical, gas) for the overall campus. All work was completed using Civil 3D AutoCAD.

The project is Certified LEED Silver.
