Piru Rancho Camulos Trail

County of Ventura

Ventura County, CA

Kimley-Horn completed the design of the first segment of the Southern Pacific Branch Line Recreational Trail. This 2.5-mile segment is primarily within the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) rail right-of-way and includes two bridge crossings. The design featured an amenity area and trailhead design at the eastern terminus. Kimley-Horn also completed efforts to obtain additional regional, state, and federal funding to design and construct additional trail segments. The final design includes the load rating and rehabilitation of a 100-year old truss bridge. Services provided included rail and trail design, bridge design including retrofit of an existing trestle bridge and cantilevered bridge off of an existing bridge, and management of the design of the rail.
