WELCOME

The US 70 study corridor stretches from Raleigh to Morehead City. The communities along this corridor reflect a mix of urban and rural development patterns. These communities continue to develop at different rates and intensities, contributing to unique challenges facing the corridor. US 70 between Raleigh and Morehead City is a major arterial link in the state’s transportation system. It is identified as Corridor 46 in the NCDOT Strategic Highway Corridor System. North Carolina has invested significant resources in its transportation system, particularly via its arterial highways. These highways are vital links between communities, serving as essential corridors for commerce, trade, tourism, and recreational travel.

Ultimately, protecting the safety, mobility, and economic vitality of the US 70 Corridor is the primary goal of the US 70 Corridor Commission. Together, the Counties of Johnston, Wayne, Lenoir, Jones, Craven, and Carteret are working to create a unified vision supportive of sustainable transportation principles.
