Project Description

Transportation Safety Charrettes are being held to focus on improving transportation safety along SR 159, from SR 160 to Hualapai Way, through the Red Rock National Conservation Area in Clark County, Nevada. The term charrette is used to describe meetings in which interested people work together to define concerns, establish priorities, and develop solutions. Kimley-Horn and Associates has been hired by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to facilitate these charrettes.

The purpose of this project is to involve the public in a process to identify concerns, priorities, and suggestions relevant to transportation safety along SR 159. The recommendations from the charrettes will be utilized by NDOT and other agencies with jurisdiction along SR 159 to select and implement short, medium and long-term safety improvements.

An Initial Charrette was held on September 14, 2005 to provide the public with an opportunity to discuss the concerns and priorities regarding transportation safety along SR 159. An Evaluation Charrette was held on Thursday, November 3, 2005 where attendees were able to work in small groups on proposed improvements.

The public will be able to review a summary of the public's recommended improvements in January.
