Position Description:
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. has an entry-level position (0-2 years experience) for an Electrical Analyst in our Phoenix, Arizona office. This position will work under the supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a passion for power engineering and will have taken applicable coursework such as power design and distribution. AutoCAD proficiency is also highly desired. Responsibilities include:

•Learning how to manage and design the layout of new and upgraded electrical and communications installations
•Perform photometric modeling of outdoor lighting installations
•Designing electrical power and communications distribution for commercial and specialty outside plant applications including outside plant WAN and security systems designs
•Performing load calculations and conduit/conductor/fiber layout and sizing as well as develop network diagrams, communications diagrams and splicing tables
•Task production, project construction oversight and documentation
•Assist in communications and electrical planning and consulting as well as analyzing, evaluating, and defining technical electrical and communications criteria
•Writing and verbally explaining technical solutions as well as researching and defining technical and functional specifications
•Development of planning documents/reports for infrastructure/security-related future improvements
•Assist/participate in marketing/proposal efforts in pursuit of new project opportunities
•Preparation of construction cost estimates

This is a Non-Exempt position.

Minimum Degree: Bachelor's Degree
Required Major: Electrical/Computer Engineering
Required Skills:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or anticipated graduation Fall 2012)
•0-2 years relevant experience
•Minimum GPA 3.0
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Effectively write and verbally explain technical solutions
•Ability to define technical and functional specifications
•Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
•Ability to take a project task from start to finish with minimal guidance
•Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
•Strong organization skills
•Problem solver – ability to develop alternate solutions for consideration/guidance from PE/PM
•Thinks ahead to what end product should be
•Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and preferably Visio
Desirable Skills:
•CAD experience (AutoCAD Civil 3d, Revit, and/or Microstation)
•Lighting analysis tool AGI32 experience
•Power distribution systems experience
•Ability to research and compare electronic hardware vendor products
•Technical writing for planning and specifications
•Communication systems design or implementation experience using fiber optics, wireless and/or leased telephone lines
•Ethernet networking concepts
•Lighting design
•Strong desire to grow into project manager/team leader
•Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
•Basic understanding of grounding and bonding for electrical installations
